Arsenal are prepared to break their transfer record to sign a striker this summer with the Gunners considering a huge offer for Lautaro Martinez.
Mikel Arteta failed to sign a striker in the January transfer window despite acknowledging his side were in need of reinforcements. The Gunners continue to be linked with a wealth of options, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

The latter impressed against Arsenal as the North Londoners lost in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night. It was a disappointing display from Arsenal, who lacked ideas and threat in the absence of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. Arsenal rank only fifth in the Premier League for open-play goals scored this season.
Spanish outlet Fichajes are now reporting that Lautaro Martinez is a player under consideration for the summer. The World Cup winner was the leading scorer in Serie A last season as Inter Milan won the title. In the summer, he top-scored at the Copa America as Argentina defended the trophy.
Martinez signed a new long-term contact at Inter in August and is the captain of Simeone Inzaghi’s squad. However, Arsenal are reportedly preparing a huge proposal to tempt the 27-year-old from the San Siro. According to the report, the bid would exceed the Β£105m record transfer of Declan Rice to the club in 2023.
