Matheus Cunha’s new contract with Wolves contains a release clause of £62.5m that can be activated this summer.
Cunha was linked with several Premier League rivals during the January transfer window, but recommitted his future to Wolves with a new deal. The Brazilian put pen to paper on a new four-and-a-half year deal at Molineux in a huge boost to the club’s survival hopes.
Cunha has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in the Premier League this season, form that has attracted interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.
His new deal makes Cunha the highest-paid player at the club, though a release clause has been inserted. Clubs can sign Cunha for a fee of €75m (£62.5m) according to The Telegraph and the clause will be active at the end of this season.
That fee would represent a record sale for Wolves, eclipsing the £54m deal that took Pedro Neto from the Midlands outfit to Chelsea last summer.
