David Moyes says he has enjoyed a “dream start” upon his return to Everton after watching his side beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The 2-1 victory means the Toffees have won four out of six Premier League games since the Scot replaced Sean Dyche in the dugout, as well as drawing with Liverpool in midweek.
The ex-Manchester United and West Ham boss has dragged the Merseyside outfit out of the relegation mire and up to 13th in the table, pulling them above his former clubs.
David Moyes celebrates ‘dream start’ to second Everton stint
“The players have reacted well,” Moyes told Sky Sports after the final whistle. “It has been a dream start coming in and winning so many games. Starting to look more healthy in the Premier League.
“I hope it will be the case, ultimately I am thinking we still have to get enough points. It has been a brilliant start, it was a good win for us today, really scrappy.
“They showed great resilience and won at a difficult place against a team who have been improving.”
Everton took the lead against the run of play in the first half as Beto continued his fine form with his fourth goal in three Premier League games. Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled matters shortly after the interval, but new signing Carlos Alcaraz grabbed the winner in the 80th.
Despite getting three important points on the road, Moyes was not impressed by his team’s overall performance on the night.
“I expected better,” he admitted. “I told them that. I thought we looked not at it in the first half. In the second half we did a bit better with the ball, even though we lost the goal in the second half. The players are doing wonders, I am so pleased for them.
“There’s a much better togetherness with the supporters and the players. It is certainly a club which thrives off its support, hopefully we are getting them all back on side again.”
