Bayern Munich confirm Florian Wirtz interest ahead of summer transfer battle

Bayern Munich are set to battle clubs from the Premier League and Europe for the signature of Florian Wirtz in the summer transfer window.

The Bayer Leverkusen star will be one of the most sought-after players this year after a couple of outstanding seasons in the Bundesliga.

Wirtz was key to Leverkusen’s success in 2023/24 as they claimed a famous league and cup double, going the entire season unbeaten before losing to Atalanta in the Uefa Europa League final.

The no.10 registered 20 goals and 21 assists for club and country last term and has already racked up 19 goals and 15 assists in the current campaign.

Bayern Munich enter Florian Wirtz summer transfer battle

Some of the top clubs in England and Europe will be vying for Wirtz when the transfer market reopens, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, PSG and Real Madrid in the race, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the German giants will try to sign the 21-year-old this summer, telling Abendzeitung that he “is the best player in Germany for me, and I make no secret of the fact that it must clearly be our goal to sign Wirtz”.

He added: “Everyone agrees within Bayern that Florian is exactly the player we want to select, not to weaken Leverkusen, but to strengthen us”.

If Wirtz does decide to leave Leverkusen this year, it will cost any prospective club upwards of £100 million to sign him.
