Ange Postecoglou refused to comment on whether his Tottenham tenure would be at risk if the club fail to overcome AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League tomorrow evening.
Spurs face the Dutch side needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg. The club’s hopes of a successful season are pinned on the Europa League, amid a dismal domestic campaign. A draw with Bournemouth at the weekend left Spurs in 13th in the Premier League table, a huge 15 points adrift of the top four.
“If that doesn’t happen this year then I can’t say that anymore” 🗣️

The Europa League represents an opportunity to win elusive silverware and secure Champions League qualification for next season. Postecoglou has come under pressure during a challenging campaign and was asked whether Thursday’s tie could be his final with Spurs – if the North Londoners fail to progress.
“There aren’t many professions where you have to come in and answer questions like that, is there? I’ll be polite and say look we are focused on winning the game tomorrow night,” Postecoglou said at his pre-match press conference.
“We need to put in a better performance than last Thursday. That wasn’t near the standard we want to play. We did some good things on the weekend, some not so good things. If we can play with the intensity and tempo we played on the weekend, we will give ourselves a good chance to progress.”
The Australian confirmed that Kevin Danso will miss the clash with a hamstring injury. However, fellow centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are available.
“They got through the game (Bournemouth) well, obviously, Romero no issues. It was great to get Micky out there. They’re both available.”
