Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has been called up to the Spain national team for the first time.
Huijsen has made a big impression since joining Bournemouth from Juventus last summer. The 19-year-old has made 23 appearances in the Premier League, scoring twice, in a Bournemouth side competing for a place in Europe.

His performances have now been recognised with a maiden call-up to the Spanish national side. Huijsen will link up with the European champions for their two-legged UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands this month.
Huijsen, who was born in Amsterdam, represented the Netherlands up to u-19 level before switching his international allegiance to Spain in 2024. He could now make his senior debut against his birth country.
Huijsen has excelled in his debut season in the Premier League. The Spanish centre-back ranks in the top three percent of Premier League centre-backs for interceptions, clearances and key passes per 90 minutes in 2024/25.
Several top clubs in England, and Real Madrid, are understood to be monitoring his progress. There is a release clause in the region of £50m in the contract that Huijsen signed last summer.
