Tottenham are leading Manchester United in the race to sign David Raya and are close to agreeing personal terms with the Brentford goalkeeper.
Spurs are keen on a deal to sign Raya as the club look to sign a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris and are understood to be nearing an agreement on personal terms with the Spanish shot-stopper.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the north Londoners have held positive talks with Raya over a long-term deal and the goalkeeper is keen on the move, but Spurs have yet to agree a fee with Brentford.
Spurs consider Raya’s current £40m valuation too high considered the 27-year-old has just a year remaining on his contract with the Bees.
News of Spurs’ progress over a deal will come as a blow to Manchester United, who had reportedly considered Raya as a replacement for David de Gea.
The Spain international has impressed since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League and led the division for saves and save percentage in 2022/23 as Thomas Frank’s side finished ninth in the table.
Brentford have already prepared for his departure with the signing of goalkeeper Mark Flekken from Freiburg.
