Manchester United have informed the agent of Andre Onana that the club intend to make a bid for the Inter Milan goalkeeper before the end of the month.
Erik ten Hag’s side want to sign Onana as the club consider replacements for David de Gea, with the Spaniard out of contract at Manchester United next month and no agreement reached on a potential extension.
Onana has attracted interest from the Premier League after an impressive debut campaign at Inter Milan and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, who starred during the Italian side’s run to the Champions League final.
Onana signed for Inter Milan from Ajax on a free transfer last summer and previously worked under Ten Hag at the Dutch side. The Cameroon international has won admirers for his confidence in possession and is viewed as an ideal option for Ten Hag’s tactical approach.
United are understood to have held talks with Onana’s agent in Manchester this week and La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Premier League side have informed the player’s representatives of their intention to make an offer before the end of this month.
The Red Devils are working on a deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea and will then turn their attention to Onana, who is valued at around €50m at the San Siro.
