Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old England youth international Harry Amass from Watford.
Amass has agreed a contract with the Red Devils, who are discussing a compensation package with Watford for the left-back.
The teenager is viewed as one of the brightest talents in Watford’s academy system and was named on the substitutes bench for the senior side during the club’s FA Cup third-round tie with Reading in January, aged just 15.
The Athletic are reporting that Amass will sign a four-year deal with Manchester United, who are understood to have beaten competition from Chelsea to the signing of the highly-rated defender.
Amass featured for Watford’s u-18 and u-21 sides last season and has represented England at various age groups. He is expected to form part of the England u17 side that will travel to Indonesia for the FIFA u-17 World Cup in November.
Amass’ exit will be another blow to Watford, who have already seen another exciting academy graduate depart this summer. England u18 forward Adrian Blake turned down a professional deal with the Hornets in favour of a move to Dutch side Utrecht.
