Manchester United are hopeful of completing the signing of Andre Onana within 48 hours as the club look to conclude a deal for the Inter Milan goalkeeper.
Onana has emerged as the club’s leading transfer target to replace David de Gea, whose contract is set to expire this week with no agreement reached on an extension.
Erik ten Hag worked with Onana during his time in charge of Ajax and the Cameroon international has impressed since leaving the Dutch side to sign for Inter Milan last summer.
The 27-year-old shone as Inter reached the Champions League final and led the competition for clean sheets, saves and high claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are now reporting that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilo will meet Manchester United and Onana’s representatives within 48 hours to find an agreement, with the Italian side having agreed on ‘tight timing’ to finalise a transfer.
Onana is understood to be valued at around €50m at the San Siro and could become the Red Devils’ first signing of the summer, after United were frustrated in the club’s pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
