Manchester United and Newcastle are exploring a deal for Axel Disasi, but neither side has submitted a bid for the Monaco centre-back.
Disasi is a transfer target for both clubs as the duo look to strengthen in central defence this summer and each have made enquiries into the defender’s availability.
Manchester United are considering a formal approach for the 25-year-old after missing out on the signing of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae to Bayern Munich, with Erik ten Hag having approved a potential deal.
The Red Devils have held talks with Disasi’s representatives over a move to the Premier League but are yet to approach Monaco with an official offer.
United view Disasi as a possible replacement for Harry Maguire, who is free to leave Old Trafford after struggling for status last season.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle are also exploring a deal. The Magpies held talks with Disasi’s agent to discuss terms this week and are expected to make contact with Monaco to negotiate a fee.
Disasi has made 129 appearances in all competitions for Monaco and has won four caps for France since making his debut for Les Bleus at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
