Manchester United prepare improved Hojland bid

Manchester United are preparing an improved bid for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojland after seeing an opening offer turned down.

Atalanta rejected an opening proposal from Manchester United worth €40m (£34.2m) for Hojland last week, with the 20-year-old having emerged as Erik ten Hag’s top target to improve his forward line.

Hojland scored 10 goals in all competitions during a breakthrough season at Atalanta in 2022/23 and has scored six goals in six appearances for Denmark, including a hat-trick on his first international start for the national side against Finland in March.

Italian journalist Nicolò Schira is reporting that Manchester United are set to increase their offer for Hojland in a bid to secure a deal, having already reached an agreement with the forward over a Premier League move.

Hojland’s representatives, SEG Group, are understood to have reached an agreement in principle with the Red Devils for a contract until 2028 and the forward is keen to complete the switch to Old Trafford. Atalanta value Hojland at around €60m (£51.3m).

Hojland could become United’s second signing of the summer after confirming the arrival of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. The Red Devils are also chasing a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and have registered interest in Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi.
