Chelsea have rejected Inter Milan’s €30m (£25.7m) bid for Romelu Lukaku with the offer deemed ‘insufficient’.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and the two clubs remain in negotiations over a permanent deal, though remain a distance apart in valuation. Inter have now seen two offers turned down for the forward with Chelsea holding firm in their valuation.
Chelsea face making a significant loss on Lukaku, having signed the Belgium international in a £97.5m deal from Inter in 2021. He was allowed to return to the Italian side on loan after a disappointing debut season at Chelsea and Inter are now keen to secure his permanent return at a cut-price fee.
The Guardian are reporting that Lukaku has rejected offers from The Saudi Pro League in favour of continuing his career in Europe, with a return to Inter his desired outcome. However, Juventus have also been credited with interest in the forward, who scored 14 goals in all competitions last season.
Simeone Inzaghi this week discussed the prospect of Lukaku’s return and urged Inter to ‘fight’ to bring the forward back to the San Siro.
“We know what he represents for us, how important he is,” the Inter manager said at a pre-season press conference, as per FCInterNews.
“Look what he did in the second half of last season. We’ve fight to bring him back. Though right now, he plays for another club.”
