Chelsea have completed the signing of Brazilian teenager Angelo Gabriel from Santos for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old has become Chelsea’s third signing of the transfer window and continues the club’s recruitment focus on emerging talent, having set a number of records since becoming the Brazilian top flight’s youngest ever debutant, aged just 15 years and 308 days, in 2020.
Gabriel has since made 129 appearances for Santos and has represented Brazil at various age groups. The left-footed forward also became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Copa Libertadores in 2021.
His arrival follows confirmed deals for Christopher Nkunku, who has joined from RB Leipzig for a fee of £52m, and Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea refresh their attacking options ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge.
Gabriel will join compatriot Andrey Santos at Chelsea, who will link up with the west Londoners this summer after signing from Vasco da Gama in January.
Santos made his senior debut for Brazil in March and formed part of the side that won the South American Youth Football Championship earlier this year.
