Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has reportedly been ‘approached’ by five Italian clubs regarding a potential move.
Maguire became the world’s most expensive defender when Manchester United agreed to pay Leicester City £80 million for his services in 2019.
He had a positive first season at the club and was quickly handed the captains armband by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though started to come under fire in recent years given his perceived limitations, particularly his lack of pace.
The appointment of Erik ten Hag last summer saw Maguire slide down the pecking order at Old Trafford, arguably slipping to fifth choice under the Dutchman with Luke Shaw preferred as a makeshift centre-back ahead of his compatriot.
Ten Hag has insisted that Maguire is still a part of his squad, though has stripped the England international of the captaincy, with reports suggesting the defender would be allowed to leave if United were to receive a suitable offer.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, five Serie A sides have ‘approached’ the 30-year-old, with Juventus, Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan all named.
There are no details to as how far any of the sides have progressed their talks with the England international.
The report does speculate that Manchester United ‘could consider’ a loan with an option to buy, though recent reports in the English media have suggested the Old Trafford outfit value Maguire at £50m.
Premier League sides Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham have also been linked with an interest.
