Manchester United are ‘working on’ a deal to sign Sofyan Amrabat, but are yet to submit an official offer for the Fiorentina midfielder.
Erik ten Hag wants to add another midfielder to his options before the closure of the transfer window and is targeting a move for Amrabat, who has entered the final 12 months of his deal with the Italian side.
The 26-year-old starred as Morocco became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar last winter and was an impressive performer as Fiorentina reached the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League finals in 2022/23.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is interest from Manchester United in the midfielder, but reports of a formal offer have been described as ‘premature’.
United are focused on finalising a deal to sign Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojland with the Dane having undergone a medical with the Red Devils this week, before turning their attention to a defensive midfielder.
Amrabat discussed his future following Fiorentina’s 4-0 friendly win over Grosseto on Tuesday and refused to rule out remaining with Vincenzo Italiano’s side for the upcoming campaign.
“I don’t know if I’m leaving… maybe I can stay here at Fiorentina,” he said.
