Chelsea have made contact with Leeds United to discuss the potential terms over a deal to sign midfielder Tyler Adams.
Adams is under consideration as Chelsea look to add depth to their midfield options and the west Londoners have approached Leeds.
Adams impressed despite Leeds’ relegation to the Championship last season and is understood to possess a relegation release clause of £20m.
The 24-year-old remains sidelined with the hamstring injury that curtailed his campaign in March, but Chelsea remain interested in a deal for the USA international.
Chelsea’s focus remains on a deal to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and the Blues are expected to return with an improved offer for the Ecuadorian, who is valued at around £100m at the Amex Stadium.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the club’s interest in Adams is not dependent on negotiations with Brighton over Caicedo, with Mauricio Pochettino in search of depth in midfield following the exits of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Chelsea are also expected to send Cesare Casadei out on loan with Leicester interested in a deal to sign the Italian u-20 international.
