Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio is set to turn down interest from the Premier League and sign a new deal at the club.
Inacio has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle, with a reported release clause of €39m (£33.3m) having added to his appeal for interested sides.
However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the 21-year-old has reached an agreement with Sporting over a new long-term contract, a deal which will see the defender’s release clause rise to a figure of €60m (£51.2m).
Manchester United are understood to have considered Inacio as the club look at centre-back options, amid Harry Maguire’s uncertain future at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils agreed a £30m deal to sell Maguire to West Ham, but have since seen the transfer collapse.
Liverpool have also been linked with signing a left-sided central defender before the transfer deadline on September 1.
Inacio has made 120 appearances since coming through the academy system at the Estádio José Alvalade and made his debut for the Portuguese national side in March 2023.
