Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson prefers a move to Spurs over rival interest from Chelsea and West Ham.
Spurs are keen to sign an additional forward before the transfer deadline and are weighing up a move for the Wales international, who scored eight goals and laid on three assists during an impressive first season in the Premier League with Forest last term.
Chelsea and West Ham are also considering approaches for Johnson, while Brentford were prepared to break their transfer record to land the 22-year-old, before turning their attention to Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez.
According to the Daily Mail, Johnson’s preference would be a move to Spurs and the north Londoners could offer players in part-exchange to bring down the Welshman’s £50m asking price.
Davinson Sanchez has been mooted as one potential makeweight, while Djed Spence – who endured a difficult debut campaign at Spurs last season – previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at the City Ground in 2021/22.
Johnson’s preference for Spurs is due to his belief that he would have a ‘greater chance of playing regularly and establishing himself’ under Ange Postecoglou, as the north Londoners look to add additional pace to their forward line.
