Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is ‘ready to go’ after returning from injury.
Jesus has missed Arsenal’s opening two fixtures of the Premier League season after undergoing knee surgery during the summer, following a reoccurrence of the issue which impacted his debut campaign in north London.
The Brazil international averaged a goal or assist every 122 minutes in the Premier League last season and has provided Arsenal with a boost after returning to first-team training.
Arteta has confirmed that Jesus is in contention to feature as the Gunners host Fulham at the Emirates on Saturday.
“I was really happy. It was a big blow after the preseason he had to have surgery,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference.
“He’s looking good. He’s ready to go.”
Arsenal have been active in the transfer window this summer and there are expected to be a number of exits from the club before the deadline on September 1. Folarin Balogun is nearing a move to Monaco and Arteta expects a ‘busy’ few days for his side.
“There are some movements happening. The last week is going to be busy. Nothing that we can announce at the moment.”
