Mikel Arteta has hinted at increased involvement for Fabio Vieira after the winger’s impressive substitute appearance in Arsenal’s draw with Fulham.
Vieira was introduced with Arsenal trailing to Andrea Pereira’s first-minute goal at the Emirates and was influential in the Gunners getting back into the game.
The 23-year-old won a penalty which Bukayo Saka converted, before setting up fellow substitute Eddie Nketiah for Arsenal’s second goal.
Joao Palhinha’s late equaliser for Fulham saw the visitors earn a draw, but Arteta was impressed with the cameo from Vieira. The midfielder struggled for starts last season and featured for just 502 minutes in the Premier League in 2022/23.
“All three substitutes changed the game. Fabio [Vieira] was involved in everything we created and I am really happy with that,” Arteta told BBC’s Match of the Day.
“To see players with the ability to make and take chances with quality. The same with Eddie [Nketiah]. It is my fault that Fabio has not played more and today he gave me reasons to play him more.”
