Cole Palmer discusses best position after sealing Chelsea transfer

Cole Palmer has discussed his best position after sealing a £42.5m transfer to Chelsea from Manchester City.

Palmer has signed a seven-year deal with the west Londoners and becomes the Blues’ latest summer signing, as Chelsea continue to invest in emerging talent.

The 21-year-old formed part of the Manchester City side that won a treble under Pep Guardiola last season and impressed as England’s u-21 side won the European Championship during the summer.

Despite being in the early stages of his career, the forward insists he knows ‘what it takes’ to win major trophies.

“I know I’m young, but I’ve been in a winning changing room. I know what it takes,” Palmer told the Chelsea website.

“I had an amazing summer winning the Euros with Noni [Madueke] and Levi [Colwill]. Four weeks we had away. It was just memories. It was good. We knew how good the team was. We knew we could win it. It was just if we could put it together – and we did!”

Palmer has performed across the forward line since breaking into the Manchester City side and opened up on where he feels most at home on the pitch.

“I made my first start at City as a striker. So I have played all along the frontline, but right wing and no.10 are my best two positions, I would say.

“I played 10 most of the time in the academy, and in the past three years I’ve mainly played on the right wing. But I’m ready to help the team wherever I’m needed.”
