Pochettino reacts to Chelsea boos as Nottingham Forest punish Caicedo mistake

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino “understands” the fans’ frustrations after the side was booed following their defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Anthony Elanga capitalised on Moises Caicedo’s failure to control the ball in midfield as Taiwo Awoniyi played the former Manchester United attacker through to score the game’s only goal.

The result leaves the Blues with just one win from their opening four games of the Premier League, while they had to come from behind in midweek to squeak past AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup.

Pochettino was left “disappointed” by the outcome of the match, but he was encouraged by the fact Chelsea create enough chances to win and believes they will improve with time.

“That is a process that you need to think a little bit about to give time,” he said in his post-match press conference.

“I think today we create chances, we dominate the game but we were not clinical enough in the last third. We should score, if you want to win and we made one mistake and concede.

“Not frustrated but disappointed because in this process you need luck. I don’t want to take credit from Nottingham Forest. We were not clinical in both areas.

The Chelsea supporters let their feelings known after yet another disappointing result. The west London outfit have won just four games in the Premier League this calendar year.

“You can understand the people that came from the past and want to see the team to win and play well. We are not playing fantastic but I think the performance is not bad.

“The fans want to win and we need to give the possibility for them to be happy. I understand we are in Chelsea and you should win every single game.”
