Dominik Szobozslai says there are more goals coming after opening his account for Liverpool in the club’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Szobozslai opened the scoring with a stunning strike as Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season, firing in from outside the area after just three minutes at Anfield.
The goal was Szobozslai’s first since signing from RB Leipzig during the summer, before a Matty Cash own goal and Mohamed Salah sealed three points for the Reds.
The Hungarian was delighted to open his account and promised ‘there are going to be more coming’ after his maiden goal.
“It feels always good to win, even away, but at home against I don’t know how many people I am glad to score my first goal and there are going to be more coming,” he said, as per the BBC.
It is a special moment. If you score your first goal for Liverpool at Anfield it is always special. I am looking forward to getting even more.
“To be honest we practice in training these situations and I think after the first game I shoot 50m over the goal so I was concentrating even more. It is also a bit of luck but I just try my best.”
Szobozslai was asked about the future of team-mate Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, with the Egyptian subject of a £150m bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad this week.
Szobozslai said the squad were pleased to see the bid turned down and revealed that Salah had made clear his desire to remain at the club.
“You know it is football everyone is talking. We are really happy that he has stayed. We are of course speaking between each other but he wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us. We are really happy – we need people in the team like him.”
