Klopp insists he ‘never had any doubt’ over Salah commitment to Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp insists he never had any doubt about the commitment of Mohamed Salah after the forward scored in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Salah was subject of a £150m transfer offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Itthad on transfer deadline day, an approach which Liverpool rejected immediately.

The Saudi transfer window remains open until September 7 and Al-Itthad could return with an improved offer, but Liverpool have insisted that Salah is not for sale.

The Egypt international scored Liverpool’s third goal as the Reds maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, with Dominik Szoboszlai and a Matty Cash own goal having put Klopp’s side in a commanding position before Salah’s close range effort rounded off the win.

Salah has now scored or assisted in 10 consecutive Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Klopp has insisted that the 31-year-old remains happy and committed with life at Anfield.

“He played a top game. Mo had to work super hard and he did,” Klopp said to Sky Sports after the win over Villa.

“I never had any doubt about his commitment to this club. You can’t imagine how much fuss the world has made but how calm we are with it. He is our player and wants to play here.”
