Man United winger Antony has denied allegations that he assaulted his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin.
The Brazilian DJ and influencer has accused the footballer of using physical and psychological violence against her during their two-year relationship.
Cavallin’s legal team have filed a complaint against Antony to Greater Manchester police, according to The Times. The 23-year-old has vowed to clear his name after São Paulo’s police department confirmed that an investigation is underway.
“The police inquiry is under judicial secrecy and, therefore, I cannot make its contents public. However, I can safely say that the accusations and the evidence already produced and the other [evidence] that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made,” Antony posted on his Instagram story on Monday evening.
“My relationship with Mrs Gabriela was tumultuous, with verbal offences on both sides, but I never practised any physical aggression.
“I vehemently deny the accusations made and inform [you] that I remain at the disposal of the Brazilian authorities to clarify whatever is necessary.”
On Monday the CBF removed Antony from the Brazil squad. Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus will replace him ahead of games against Bolivia and Peru.
