Salah offered ‘four, five times’ Liverpool wages to move to Saudi

Mohamed Salah is being offered a contract worth ‘four, five times’ his Liverpool wages to move to Saudi side Al-Ittihad.

Salah has been subject of an approach from the Saudi Pro League side with Liverpool having turned down an offer in the region of £150m for the 31-year-old before the Premier League transfer deadline.

Salah’s future remains uncertain with the Saudi transfer window open until Thursday September 7, closing at 10pm BST.

There has been speculation that Al-Ittihad will return with a world-record offer worth around £215m for Salah, a bid Liverpool will find difficult to turn down given its size and Salah’s age.

The Athletic are reporting that Al-Ittihad’s pursuit of Salah is ‘ongoing’, with the club offering ‘four or five times’ Salah’s current Liverpool wage. The Egyptian signed a new three-year contract with Liverpool in 2022, worth a club-record £350,000-a-week.

According to the report, the ‘most likely outcome’ is that Salah remains with Liverpool for the coming season and potentially moves on next summer.

The Saudi Pro League have made signing the winger a priority for the big-spending project, given his standing in the game and popularity in the Arab world.
