Liverpool and Newcastle join Spurs in race for Lloyd Kelly

Liverpool and Newcastle have reportedly joined Spurs in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

Spurs failed with a late bid to sign Kelly on deadline day, with Bournemouth rejecting a £20m offer from the north Londoners for the 24-year-old.

Kelly’s current contract at the Cherries expires at the end of the season and his situation has alerted several of the Premier League’s top teams, with 90min.com reporting that Liverpool and Newcastle have joined Spurs as suitors.

The versatile defender is understood to be in ‘no rush to to put pen to paper on fresh terms’ and Spurs are plotting a fresh move to sign Kelly during the January window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side allowed Colombia centre-back Davinson Sanchez to leave for Galatasaray in the closing stages of the transfer window, while Eric Dier is also free to leave the club and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Liverpool could rival Spurs as the Reds look to sign a left-sided centre-back. Jurgen Klopp’s side had targeted Levi Colwill during the summer before the defender signed a new deal at Chelsea, while Micky van de Ven was also named as an option before the Dutch defender’s move from Wolfsburg to Spurs.
