Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is ‘very happy’ at Napoli and ‘not considering’ leaving the club despite reported interest from Europe’s top clubs.
The Georgian winger was one of the breakthrough stars in Europe’s top five leagues last season and was named as Serie A’s Most Valuable Player after inspiring Napoli to a first Scudetto success in 33 years.
Napoli this week called media reports that the club were in talks with the 22-year-old over a new deal b*******, insisting there was no rush to extend Kvaratskhelia’s deal which still has four years to run.
The player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, has now given his view on Kvaratskhelia’s future and said the winger is focused on success at Napoli.
“I am the only person who can talk about Kvaratskhelia’s contract. Only me,” Jugeli told CalcioNapoli24.
“Kvara has been at Napoli for just over a year and we have a fantastic rapport with the directors of Napoli, so we can only say good things about them. We feel very much at home in Naples and I can officially confirm that we never talked about wanting to change club. This was never a situation we even considered.
“We also did not discuss renewing the contract. We are happy with the deal that we have with Napoli and Kvara’s objective is to confirm the Scudetto won last season and have a good run in the Champions League.
“He is very happy at Napoli, happy with the fans, he is in a very strong club and feels that this is his home. I don’t care what the media says. If the President considers it opportune to renew the contract, then we are ready to discuss it, but frankly nobody is unhappy with the current situation.”
Real Madrid have been credited with interest in Kvaratskhelia, while Liverpool and Manchester City have also been named as potential suitors following his emergence last season.
Jugeli reiterated that Kvaratskhelia had no immediate plans to leave Naples despite notable interest from Europe’s elite.
“I say once again, we are not considering the option of leaving Napoli. Maybe one day when Kvara will be ready to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona, that will be evaluated in future, but Napoli are a team with players like Osimhen, Di Lorenzo and Zielinski, so there is no reason to leave.”
