Manchester United have no interest in signing Anwar El-Ghazi as a stop-gap replacement for Antony and Jadon Sancho, according to multiple reports.
The Red Devils were this week linked with the former Aston Villa and Everton winger, who is a free agent after leaving PSV Eindhoven by mutual consent last week.
Antony has agreed not to return to Old Trafford amid allegations of domestic abuse, which he has strongly denied.
Sancho was left out of Man United’s matchday squad against Arsenal earlier this month, with Ten Hag claiming his decision was based on his performance levels in training.
The 23-year-old rebuffed that assertion on social media, saying that he is being scapegoated, and is not expected to play a role in the team while the rift continues.
The absence of those two players leaves Man United light on right-wing options, leading to suggestions that they could sign El-Ghazi on a free transfer.
However, it seems more likely now that the club will put their faith in youngster Facundo Pellistri. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that United are prioritising a new contract for the Uruguayan.
Pellistri, who is under contract until 2025, held talks over an extension last April and negotiations “over new long term deal are set to advance soon”.
The 21-year-old joined Man United from Penarol in 2020, but has only made six Premier League appearances since then. He spent his first two seasons at the club on loan with Deportivo Alaves.
