John Terry is in talks with Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab about becoming the club’s next manager.
The former Chelsea captain is in discussions with Al-Shabab about a potential move to the Middle East, where he could join ex-England teammate Steven Gerrard, currently in charge of Al-Ettifaq, in the big-spending Saudi Pro League.
Terry had been working at Chelsea as an academy coach, having enjoyed spells as an assistant manager at Aston Villa and Leicester City under Dean Smith.
The 42-year-old has been keen to take a senior management role and journalist Nicolo Schira has confirmed that Terry is in talks over a Saudi move.
Al-Shabab finished fourth in the Saudi Pro League in 2022/23 and count Roman Saiss, once of Wolves, and former Argentina international Ever Banega among their first-team squad.
The club also signed winger Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid during the summer window, but are not part of the four-team group – Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli – that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund acquired 75% stakes in as part of the nation’s sporting project.
