Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will not feature as Liverpool take on Wolves in the Premier League this weekend.
Alexander-Arnold withdrew from the England squad for September’s fixtures with Ukraine and Scotland after sustaining a hamstring problem and Klopp has confirmed the 24-year-old is not fit to return this weekend.
“He’s not available, we knew that before,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
“It is not the worst hamstring injury but they barely heal in two weeks; this one didn’t. He is running already, we hope he can start ball work soon. We’ll see.”
Ryan Gravenberch also withdrew from international duty, with the Dutch FA having been unhappy with the midfielder’s decision after the 21-year-old turned down representing the u-21 side to focus on settling in at Liverpool.
Gravenberch signed for Liverpool from Bayern Munich on deadline day and Klopp discussed his adaptation.
“We will see on him. He had training sessions here and got everything sorted; we have games every three days now so he has organised everything and that is a benefit. I understand the Dutch FA was not happy, but the boy wants to play football all the time.
“He used that break to fix a lot of things we usually do in a proper rush.”
