Erik ten Hag says Manchester United must ‘sacrifice and suffer’ against Brighton in the Premier League this weekend.
Manchester United host Brighton at Old Trafford looking to end a poor recent record against the Seagulls, with the Red Devils have lost each of the past three Premier League meetings between the sides.
Brighton secured a first ever top-six finish in the Premier League last season to earn entry into European competition for the first time and have started the current campaign in fine form.
Brighton lead the Premier League for goals scored (12) and xG (10.22), while only Chelsea and Manchester City have averaged a greater share of possession than Roberto De Zerbi’s side (64.4%).
Ten Hag insists he is looking forward to the challenge of taking on the improving Seagulls and has warned his side they must be prepared to ‘suffer’ to earn a positive result.
“I love to play them,” Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.
“We have to be at our best tomorrow because they will make you sacrifice and suffer. I’m looking forward to the fight.”
