Trossard ‘happy’ after Arsenal win ‘hard game’ at Everton

Leandro Trossard said he was happy to score the winner as Arsenal secured a 1-0 win at Everton on Sunday.

Trossard’s second-half strike continued Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, as the Gunners remained within two points of leaders Manchester City in the table.

Arsenal dominated the possession but struggled to break down a stubborn Everton side, until Trossard broke the deadlock as the Belgian finished off a fine team move to fire past Jordan Pickford and earn Arsenal their first win at Goodison Park since 2017.

“It’s always nice to help your team, especially with a winning goal,” Trossard told Sky Sports.

“I think it’s a great action. I called B (Saka) and he saw me with a perfect lay-off. It went in perfectly and I’m very happy. I’ve been practicing all my life on both feet and you can see it helps you. It’s so helpful if you’re good on both feet – you can go both ways and score off either.”

Arsenal had lost four of their previous five visits to Everton and Trossard was delighted that the north Londoners managed to end their poor recent record at the Toffees.

“We knew and we wanted to win the game. It’s always a hard game, they give you a hard time but we defended the box well, got a couple of chances and took one of those chances.”
