Barcelona are eyeing a move to sign Newcastle forward Alexander Isak as the club consider long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski.
Lewandowski scored 33 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season, but the veteran striker turned 35 last month and the Spanish side are planning for the long-term at centre-forward.
Isak is understood to be a name on the radar of the Catalans, with the forward having excelled since leaving Real Sociedad for Newcastle.
The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals in just 21 Premier League starts since swapping Spain for St James’ Park and Fichajes, via the Daily Mail, are reporting that Barcelona are interested in a deal.
However, signing the Sweden international looks a difficult task for Barcelona given the club’s ongoing financial issues. Newcastle signed Isak in a club-record £63m deal in 2022 and have little interest in allowing the forward to leave given his impact on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe’s side secured Champions League qualification for the first time since 2002/03 last season and will begin their European campaign against AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday evening.
