Sofyan Amrabat hailed a ‘perfect night’ after the midfielder made his full Manchester United debut during the club’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Manchester United booked their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round after a comfortable win over Palace at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag made several changes to the side that won 1-0 at Burnley at the weekend, but the Red Devils were dominant and took a first-half lead through Alejandro Garnacho.
Casemiro then took centre stage as the midfielder headed home from Mason Mount’s corner to double the advantage for the holders before the break, before the Brazilian set up Anthony Martial for the third goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Amrabat, who started in an unfamiliar left-back position on his first appearance in the starting side since signing from Fiorentina, was full of praise for the performance from his side.
“I think it was the perfect night. We played very well and most importantly won 3-0,” the Moroccan told Sky Sports.
“I played for an hour so I think [it was] a perfect night.
“Since I was a child, I worked for this. I worked very hard my whole career, my whole life for this. To play here is amazing,” the midfielder said on his debut.
“It’s Tuesday and the stadium is full, it’s fantastic.”
Amrabat was asked to play at full-back in a rotated Red Devils team and admits he is happy to play wherever the team needs him.
“I told the manager I would play wherever he needs me, wherever the team need me, even if it’s goalkeeper.
“I’ll play where I can help the team. Today it was left-back but I had a bit of a free role and I played a lot in the midfield. It was nice.
“I like to touch the ball and have it always. I’m not a left-back that will play from the line. I tried to give the team an extra option. I’ll play where the team needs me, I prefer to play in midfield but if it’s left-back, it’s left-back.”
Crystal Palace improved in the second period but never looked likely of getting back into the game, with Ten Hag able to hand a rare run out to Donny van de Beek in the second half and a senior debut to teenager Daniel Gore.
United face an instant reunion with the Eagles when the club take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend.
