Sancho situation ‘beyond repair’ at Manchester United

Jadon Sancho is unlikely to be reintegrated into the Manchester United squad with the winger’s relationship with manager Erik ten Hag ‘beyond repair’.

Sancho is training away from the first-team squad at Manchester United after a public spat with Ten Hag, following the latter’s comments explaining why the winger was dropped for the defeat at Arsenal earlier this month.

Ten Hag said that Sancho was not included in the squad due to unacceptable performance levels in training, comments with Sancho refuted in a social media post that branded his manager’s accusations as ‘completely untrue’.

The situation has led to Sancho being excluded from the squad and inews are reporting that a positive resolution is not anticipated. Sancho’s relationship with Ten Hag has been described as ‘beyond repair’ and an exit is expected in the January transfer window.

Sancho’s current status continues a difficult period since signing for Manchester United in a £72.9m deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. The 23-year-old has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League and has lost his place in the England squad.

Sancho arrived viewed as one of the most exciting young talents in European football, but he has scored just 12 goals in 82 appearances for the Red Devils. Last season he was given extended leave from the club in a bid to improve his physical and mental state.
