Liverpool star Szoboszlai ‘a joy to work with’ for Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has called Dominik Szoboszlai ‘a joy to work with’ after the midfielder’s impressive start to life at Liverpool.

Szoboszlai signed for Liverpool from RB Leipzig for a fee in the region of £60m during the summer and has shone during the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.

The Hungarian scored his second goal of the campaign with a stunning strike in the 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Leicester City in midweek and Klopp has been delighted with how the 22-year-old has hit the ground running at Anfield.

“The boy is impressive; very smart. He is really nice too, close to everyone,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Spurs.

“He has charisma; he was so happy to come here, which is nice to see. He never played the position he is playing now, but we are learning together. It is a joy to work with him.”

Klopp was asked on the news that Liverpool owners FSG had sold a minority stake in the club and said the arrival of fresh funds was ‘good news’ for the club.

“I can understand that people want to spend money. I’m part of that as well. We shouldn’t forget we are building a new stand, which will improve the atmosphere [at Anfield]. We built another stand, a training ground, bought Melwood [former training ground] back. A lot of things that keep the club in a healthy state for a long, long time.

“If someone helps us, that is great. The better place we are in, the more we can spend. We are not playing in the Champions League, which is a financial blow; we’ve improved the team anyway. It is good news; the money will be well used.”
