Napoli have placed Gabriel Jesus on the club’s three-man shortlist of potential replacements for star forward Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is a transfer target for a number of top clubs across Europe after firing Napoli to Serie A title success last season. The 24-year-old scored 26 league goals as Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years and has scored 64 goals in 110 games for the club since signing from Lille.
Osimhen’s future has been in the headlines after a fallout with Napoli over a social media post last month, after the Italian side released a TikTok video mocking the Nigerian.
Osimhen has since settled that dispute with Napoli issuing an apology to the club’s leading goalscorer, but clubs across Europe remain interested in prising the striker from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The Express are reporting that Napoli have drawn up a three-man shortlist of potential replacements, with include’s Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.
Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Lille’s Jonathan David are also under consideration, but interest in Jesus has raised the prospect of a huge swap-deal between Arsenal and Napoli, with the north Londoners linked with signing an an elite centre-forward.
Jesus has impressed since signing for Arsenal from Manchester City, though there are reservations regarding his consistency around goal. The Brazil international has scored 14 goals in 42 appearances for the Gunners and Osimhen could be viewed as an upgrade in the final third.
