Pochettino plans Chelsea clear-out in January

Mauricio Pochettino is planning a clear-out at Chelsea in the January transfer window with Trevoh Chalobah, Malang Sarr and Marc Cucurella expected to leave the club.

Pochettino will continue to overhaul his squad in the winter window and will look to offload unwanted assets, with Chalobah having failed to play a single minute under the new manager so far this season.

Chalobah was linked with a number of clubs during the summer and turned down a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest, amid reported interest from Bayern Munich.

The Express are reporting that the German champions remain keen on a deal to sign the defender, with Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel open to a reunion with Chalobah after working with the 24-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Marc Cucurella is also expected to move on after a disappointing spell in west London. The Spaniard has failed to live up to expectations since signing from Brighton in a £62m deal in 2022 and was linked with a loan move to Manchester United during the summer.

Malang Sarr will also leave Chelsea, having been left out of the club’s Premier League squad for the new season. Pochettino appeared to not know who the defender was when asked on Sarr’s future in August.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Monaco and has made just eight league appearances for Chelsea since his arrival from Nice in 2020.
