Kudus agent reveals Chelsea contract ‘agreed’

The agent of Mohammed Kudus has revealed the West Ham midfielder agreed a contract with London rivals Chelsea during the summer.

Kudus was linked with a move to Chelsea after scoring 18 goals in all competitions for Ajax last season, but a move failed to materialise with the Ghana international instead joining West Ham for a fee of £38m plus add-ons.

The 23-year-old has made an impressive start at the London Stadium with three goals in eight games for the Irons, but the player’s agent has revealed that Kudus came close to a transfer to Chelsea.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Kudus’ agent, Jennifer Mendelewitsch, said a contract was agreed with Chelsea, but revealed that a ‘ridiculous offer’ from the Blues prevented a deal from being done with Ajax.

“We agreed contract with Chelsea but deal didn’t happen,” she said.

“Kudus talked with the coach but in the end it didn’t happen because Chelsea made a ridiculous offer to Ajax. There was no counter-offer. Chelsea did this to lots of players this summer.

“They did with very low offers knowing they wouldn’t be accepted. The truth is that they were completely taken by the transfer of (Moises) Caicedo.”
