Manchester United to offer new deals to defensive duo

Manchester United are set to offer one-year contract extensions to defensive duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof.

Wan-Bissaka and Lindelof’s current contracts are set to expire next summer, but the Red Devils have an option to extend their deals for a further season. The club are set to trigger those options in the coming weeks in a bid to avoid losing the pair as free agents at the end of the campaign.

Lindelof has been linked with an exit in recent transfer windows after struggling for a regular role last season, but the Sweden captain has started five Premier League games during the current campaign due to injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Wan-Bissaka started each of the first four Premier League games under Erik ten Hag this season and has shown improvement in recent months, though the 25-year-old is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Ten Hag is keen to keep both players among his options for next season, while talks are also underway regarding a new contract for Hannibal Mejbri.

The Tunisian midfielder has broken into the team this season and United are in negotiations over a long-term deal for the 20-year-old.
