Premier League clubs are interested in a deal to sign Nico Gonzalez after the Fiorentina forward’s excellent start to the new campaign.
Gonzalez was a transfer target for Brentford during the summer window and the Bees were prepared to break their transfer record to land the Argentina international, having submitted an offer in the region of £34.2million.
Brentford’s bid came after Leicester launched a failed move for the winger in January, while Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Wolves have also been linked.
Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that interest from the Premier League remains high with a number of clubs tracking Gonzalez.
The 24-year-old – who signed a new long-term deal with the Italian side last month – impressed as Fiorentina reached the Europa Conference League final last season and has started the new campaign in fine form, with five goals in eight Serie A appearances.
Fiorentina signed the winger from Stuttgart and Gonzalez has since scored 29 goals in 92 appearances across all competitions.
He has earned 25 caps for Argentina, scoring five goals, but was forced to withdraw from the squad that went on to win the World Cup last winter due to a muscular injury.
