Pep Guardiola says he is unsure on the fitness of Erling Haaland after the Manchester City forward was substituted during the weekend win over Bournemouth.
Haaland was substituted at half-time of the 6-1 win over the Cherries at the Etihad and is a doubt for City’s clash with Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Speaking ahead of the game with the Swiss side, Guardiola said he was unsure whether Haaland would be passed fit to feature.
“I can’t [give an update]. We train this afternoon,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.
On whether he expects Haaland to train: “I don’t know. Yesterday he told me he feels much better, but I don’t know.”
City’s weekend win over Bournemouth saw the club extend their record to 21 consecutive home wins in the Premier League. Another home win tomorrow evening will see the European champions progress through the the Champions League’s knockout rounds.
“We try to win whether it’s home or away. We feel more comfortable to play with our people, locker room and having a good experience in this stadium over the years. That is why it gives us a lot of confidence but you have to win it again.
“We have to try tomorrow to finish (qualification). We have the opportunity to qualify for the next stage and it means a lot for the club.”
