Premier League trio watch Fluminense midfielder Andre

Arsenal, Liverpool and Fulham have all sent scouts to watch Fluminense midfielder Andre in action, ahead of potential moves in the January transfer window.

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old and made an approach for Andre during the summer transfer window, but the Brazilian side reportedly rejected a €30m bid from the Reds and insisted the midfielder would remain with the club until the end of their domestic season in December.

Andre played a key role as Fluminense were crowned winners of the Copa Libertadores for the first time last weekend, beating Argentina’s Boca Juniors 2-1 in extra-time at the Maracanã Stadium on November 4.

Arsenal and Fulham have also sent scouts to watch Andre, who made his senior debut for Brazil in June, according to Portuguese outlet Globo Esporte.

Arsenal are targeting a defensive midfielder due to doubts over the futures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey at the Emirates, while Fulham are braced for bids for Joao Palhinha in January and considering replacements.

Bayern Munich failed with a deadline day offer for Palhinha in the summer, but are expected to return with a new approach in the new year.

Fluminense are confident of receiving an offer in excess of €35m (£30.4m) for Andre, who won the Bola de Ouro as the best player in the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2022.
