Liverpool have joined the race to sign Dusan Vlahovic after the Fiorentina forward rejected a new contract at the club.
Vlahovic has attracted interest from several leading sides after a breakthrough season with Fiorentina last season, with the 21-year-old scoring 21 league goals for La Viola during the 2020/21 campaign.
The Serbia international has scored six goals in just eight appearances across all competitions this term and theĀ Mirror are reporting that Liverpool are monitoring his situation after the forward rejected a new contract in Italy.
Fiorentina are keen to tie Vlahovic – whose current contract expires in 2023 – to a new deal, but the forward has rejected an offer that would have made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Vlahovic’s stance has alerted several clubs across the Premier League with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City all linked in recent months, whilst there is interest from Juventus, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid elsewhere across Europe.
Vlahovic – who was named as Serie A’s Best Young Player last season – has already scored three times in 10 appearances at international level, including during Serbia’s 3-2 win over the Republic of Ireland in World Cup qualification in March.
The 6ft 3in forward would add youth and a different profile to Liverpool’s forward options, as the Reds consider long-term replacements for Roberto Firmino.
