Brighton have two fresh injury problems to deal with ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.
Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Ansu Fati and Tariq Lamptey will be out “for a long time” after sustaining injuries against Nottingham Forest last weekend. Both players were forced off in the first half of that game.
“Igor (Julio) can play. Ansu (Fati) and (Tariq) Lamptey are both injured,” De Zerbi said ahead of Thursday night’s meeting with AEK Athens in the Uefa Europa League.
“We have lost them for a long time I think. But the focus is on the players who can play. We will have to compete.
“I don’t know if we will win, but we will fight to win the game for sure.”
Ansu Fati, who has made nine appearances in the Premier League this season, is on loan from Barcelona, who fear that the 21-year-old will be sidelined for two and a half months, according to The Athletic.
Brighton will be without at least nine first-team players when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Chelsea. Pervis Estupinan, Adam Webster, Solly March, Mahmoud Dahoud, Julio enciso and Danny Welbeck are all out injured, while Lewis Dunk is suspended.
