Arteta insists in-form Arsenal ‘can be better’

Mikel Arteta insists his Arsenal side ‘can be better’ despite the club’s impressive recent form.

Arsenal have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions and moved to the top of the Premier League table after beating Brentford last weekend. The Gunners then sealed their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League after thrashing Lens 6-0 in midweek.

The win over Lens was the first time an English side had led 5-0 at half-time of a Champions League goal, while it was the biggest win a Premier League team has inflicted on French opposition in the competition.

The return of Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard to fitness has improved Arsenal, with both on target during the rout of Ligue 1 side. Despite their strong recent form, Arteta believes Arsenal are capable of even more.

“There are more levels to come and I hope so,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Wolves this weekend.

“We have to continue doing what we do in games and earn the right to win. We can be better still and improve our consistency.”

On whether Arsenal could maintain their title challenge, the Spaniard added: “Time will tell. We have another big game against Wolves. They are a very difficult team to play against. Our focus is on understanding what we need to do to win the game.”
