Mathys Tel to reject loan move despite Man United enquiry

Mathys Tel will turn down a loan exit from Bayern Munich in January despite enquiries from clubs including Manchester United.

Tel has attracted interest from a number of clubs, following his impressive form amid limited game-time at Bayern Munich, with the teenager having recorded three goals and two assists in just 198 minutes of Bundesliga action.

The 18-year-old has averaged a goal or assist every 60.7 minutes in all competitions this season, including a goal against Manchester United during the Champions League’s group stage.

According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils are one of a number of clubs to have asked on Tel’s availability ahead of the January transfer window, with several sides keen on a loan move for the Frenchman.

Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in reinforcements at centre-forward, with Anthony Martial expected to leave the club and Rasmus Hojlund without a league goal so far this season.

However, Tel is set to turn down interest from other clubs in favour of remaining at Bayern Munich, until the end of the season at least.

The forward is confident he will receive sufficient playing time at Bayern, while learning from Harry Kane at the Allianz Arena.

Tel could line up against Manchester United when the two teams meet in the Champions League tomorrow. Bayern are already confirmed as group winners, while United must win at Old Trafford to stand any chance of progression to the knockout rounds.
