Victor Osimhen is close to finalising an agreement with Napoli over a new contract with the club.
Osimhen is set to sign a new deal that will include a ‘huge salary increase’ for the forward, who was the leading scorer in Serie A last season as Napoli were crowned champions for the first time in 33 years.
The Nigeria international hit 26 league goals in the club’s Scudetto success, form which has since seen the 24-year-old linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs.
Fabrizo Romano is reporting that Osimhen will shun interest from rival clubs in favour of a new deal in Naples, one which will see him become one of the best-paid players in the club’s history.
However, the deal will include a release clause which will be valid next summer. The final fee is undecided, but is expected to be in the region of €130m (£112m).
Chelsea have been linked with signing Osimhen, who has repaired his relationship with Napoli after a fallout earlier this season. The forward’s agent threatened legal action after the release of a video mocking Osimhen on the club’s official social media channels.
Osimhen has scored 66 goals in 116 appearance since joining Napoli from Lille in 2020, including seven in all competitions this season.
